Success Stories from your Co-Workers
I remember when my son signed his letter of intent to swim for the Iowa
Hawkeyes. My son was a Division I athlete, and I was worried about him
having the fattest mom on the team. I knew something had to change, but
despite my son being an elite athlete, I was not.

I’m in my mid-50s and like many people, I tried and retried to diet and lose
weight. It would work for a little while, but then I would gain it back, and
the cycle would repeat. I’ve certainly never been a “fitness” person, and
the idea of going to the gym was intimidating to say the least. So when my
husband Craig brought home a flyer about a fitness class, I was more than a
little terrified. I took a deep breath and called the trainer, Andrew
Whitman, to at least get some information.

We met at Health and Fitness Headquarters, mapped out a plan, and started work
the very next day. I was scared. I was skeptical. I was certainly
intimidated, but I was also determined, and Andrew was determined to help
me. A little over a year later, I have lost 125 pounds. I've gone from being
short of breath while walking up a flight of stairs, to being able to run a
5k. My blood work and blood pressure are in the normal-excellent range. My
husband Craig has also had great success, not only did he lose more than 60
pounds, he now no longer needs to take blood pressure medication.

I’m still not particularly athletic, but I am on my way to being fit. I even
find myself missing working out if I lose a day here and there. I know a lot
of people say, “If I can do it, anybody can.” I saw those stories, too, and
didn’t believe them. But it is true, if this 54-year-old woman can change, I
believe just about anybody can if they have the determination, dedication,
and of course some help along the way from Andrew and HFH.
